Forge Motorsport Enlarged Turbo Inlet for Hyundai i20N

The Forge Motorsport Enlarged Turbo Inlet Kit is a complete Plug & Play solution comprising a cast turbocharger inlet, silicone hose, and CNC-machined silicone hose outlets. The turbo inlet not only has a positive effect on the car's performance, but also significantly enhances the appearance of the engine bay.

The turbocharger inlet volume has increased to 170% of the original factory version to maximise the amount of air available for the turbocharger. The factory turbo inlet is very small, so it was obvious that this part would be a key element for cars with increased boost pressure. The original plastic duct has a series of ribs and internal steps along its length, which causes undesirable turbulent airflow. In contrast, the Forge Motorsport silicone hose features a completely smooth internal profile.

During development, Forge Motorsport also considered an aluminium pipe, but this exhibited undesirable leakage of hot air from the engine bay. After the third test on the rolling road, the amount of heat seeping into the intake began to reduce the car's performance. When using the silicone hose, the temperature was safely low even after six tests on the rolling road.

The enlarged inlet fits perfectly in combination with both the factory airbox and the Forge Motorsport FMINDK45 Intake.

The resulting power measurement took place at Performance Remap in the UK on their VTEC 4-wheel drive dynamometer. This ensures that the resulting measurement data is accurate and from an independent source. On the Hyundai i20N, a power increase of almost 7 hp and 12 Nm of torque was measured in combination with the factory airbox and standard filter. The power gain is also measurable throughout the rev range.

When used in conjunction with the Forge Motorsport intake, an increase in power of up to 12 hp and torque of 20 Nm can even be expected. With an ECU remap, the benefit of both can be even greater.
