Despite Forge Motorsport's extensive experience with Hyundai's N division sports models, the development of the i20N intake required extensive testing. The heat shield was designed using CAD software and is laser-cut. This shield prevents heat from the engine from reaching the air filter. It also helps direct fresh air towards the filter itself. The black powder coating gives the intake a subtle factory look.
Low temperature and a large volume of intake air greatly influence performance, especially in a turbocharged engine. The Forge Motorsport intake supplies the area in front of the turbocharger with a large volume of cold air, resulting in faster throttle response and, thanks to the lower air temperature, higher performance.
Forge Motorsport intakes are completely designed and manufactured in Great Britain.
For the Forge Motorsport intake, you can choose either a foam filter, which is made in cooperation with the British company Pipercross, or a cotton filter. Both filters can be impregnated with oil during cleaning, which is especially recommended in hot and dusty areas. The 1.6 Turbo engine used in the i20N models is not equipped with a MAF sensor, so impregnation has no effect on the sensor's lifespan and does not affect the engine's performance or longevity.
As shown in the attached graph, the increase in power and torque is noticeable across the entire rev range. Torque increased by 20 Nm at 2400 rpm and by 15 Nm from 3000 to 3800 rpm. Power increased by 7 hp at 3700 rpm and by 6 hp at 6400 rpm.
Some pictures also show the silicone hose with an integrated turbo inlet (FMTIA11). This hose is available separately and enhances not only power and torque, but also the car's sound profile. Also, the photos do not show the hose from the blow-off valve connected. The test car used an atmospheric (vented) Forge Motorsport blow-off valve FMDV37.
