The Forge Motorsport sports intake for the Hyundai i30N and Hyundai Kona N was developed based on the intake used in the BTCC (British Touring Car Championship) series.
The intake stands out with its huge air duct diameter (102 mm / 4") from the filter to the turbocharger inlet. The ducting is made of bent (not welded) aluminium with a black textured finish and draws fresh air through a large foam or cotton filter. The intake diameter is designed to provide a stable increase in power without losing torque at lower revs.
The intake was tested on our own car, which was equipped with a cat-back exhaust. After installing the intake, a maximum power of 296 bhp and 421 Nm was measured. Despite the open design, no increase in intake air temperature was measured at a stable ambient temperature, closed bonnet and simulated airflow at a speed of 112 km/h (70 MPH) above 30 °C.
